Are you listening to your kids? Are you a safe parent? | Important parenting thoughts

It is a tough question to ask yourself. Are you a safe parent?

Some questions for you as a parent:

1. Have you created a safe home environment for your kids? A place where they can share about any struggle they are going through?
2. Are you actually listening?

I find often kids say one of 2 things:

  1. They do not feel like they are able to share their struggles with their parents
  2. They shared their struggles and their parents did not really listen to them

It may be that you want to support your kids but you lack the communication skills to actually talk about these issues. You might need to work on better communication skills. I would suggest a few sessions with a registered therapist to gain some insight and help in this area.
