Carey Nieuwhof: Why Every Good Leader Should Escape the Algorithm (Before You Can’t…or Won’t)

This is a really great article on algorithms. Well worth the read for leaders, parents, and students. Carey goes through 4 ways algorithms are affecting us and 3 ways we can look at making changes. If you do not follow Carey on social media and his blog I would highly suggest it. Podcast, books, articles, courses, and more can be found on his website:

An astonishing amount of your life and mine is run by algorithms these days, and that’s something that has changed rapidly in the last decade, almost without us knowing it.

Algorithms drive the suggestions you see on sites ranging from Amazon to Netflix to Spotify or Prime that tell you ‘because you watched X, you’ll probably like Y.” That’s an algorithmic suggestion.

While I’m not generally an alarmist, I’m increasingly concerned about how the omnipresence of algorithms is threatening your ability to think freely – creatively and redemptively.
